In the area of healthcare

the Foundation supports the “Benedict Medical Centre” of Kampala, founded by Father Giovanni Scalabrini in 2007 and designed as a clinic for pupils of the BCK schools; later, in 2009, it was extended and opened to the entire community of Luzira and the district of Nakawa (126,000 people).

The goal of the Foundation is to guarantee access the healthcare to the entire community. In particular, the BMC offers free medical care in the surrounding slums, promoting awareness-raising activities on topics like personal hygiene, prevention and recognising the symptoms of the main infectious diseases.

The clinic currently has 67 beds and a staff of 72 people and offers the following services:

a health centre for check-ups

radiology, maternity and surgical wards, gynaecology and dentistry departments
